Hayden Panettiere’s electrifying performance as Kirby Reed in Wes Craven’s SCREAM franchise cemented her place in Horror history. Debuting in SCREAM IV, her character flipped the script on final girl dynamics and held a mirror to Horror fans everywhere. Kirby’s mastery of genre insight was empowered by Panettiere’s ferocious spirit, making for a character audiences welcomed back with cheers in SCREAM VI.

When Spyglass Media Group fired Melissa Barrera (ABIGAIL, YOUR MONSTER) for speaking out against Palestinian genocide, Panettiere defended her costar in the press. After news broke of Panettiere’s death this August, Barrera shared, “I’m still in shock. Hayden should still be here. I feel so incredibly lucky that I got to grow up watching her and admiring her, and that I got to know her and share the screen with her. She will always be an icon in my book. I am forever grateful to her because she showed up for me when no one else did.”

Paniettiere publicly came out as Bisexual earlier this year as a shining example of living in truth despite industry stigmas. Her truth and willingness to confront fear forged a brave legacy that would leave any monster shaking in their boots.
